Getting to Know You:  What you would like your

fellow members to know about you and your practice

CLA is pleased to present a luncheon focusing on relationships among each other.  As your president (and as a member of the national Christian Legal Society), I receive requests weekly from people (both locally and from all over the country) seeking a Christian attorney in South Florida or asking me who in the CLA handles a particular type of matter.

It is time to know each other better.  At the risk of being shunned (or excommunicated, depending on your denomination), I will liken it to speed dating.  Those in private practice should come with a three-minute description of what you think that people should know about you and an explanation of your practice areas.  If you practice family law (which we can see from the CLA website, where I often look to answer referral inquiries), do you handle adoptions or domestic violence?  If you practice real estate, do you handle commercial, residential, title work, or land use planning?  If your practice includes personal injury litigation, do you handle medical malpractice, slip and falls, or products liability?  If you practice probate or guardianship, do you litigate contested issues?

Do you pay referral or participation fees when permitted by the Rules?

Those in governmental practice (and everyone else!) should come ready to find out who does what, because you have to refer everyone who comes to you with a legal issue.  Now you will have a better idea of your choices.

You get the idea.  We need to know what you do and (a little bit of) why you would be a good choice for referrals.  People won’t refer matters to you unless they believe that you are competent, ethical, and have an appropriate demeanor.  This is an opportunity to help people know you.

This promises to be fun and worthwhile.  We need to know each other better, and your Board thought that this would be a valuable step in that direction.

I am told that we will have a short skit to highlight this a bit.

We look forward to seeing you.  Please respond through the RSVP link below.
